Corporate Events

Find another way to reward your employees. SHOP at Work!

Invite EWI at your corporate office to showcase and sell unique art and gift items created by immigrant and foreign born women artists of the Empowered Women International. Your employees can shop at work during lunch or at another designated time. EWI will bring a variety of art gifts including paintings, one-of-a-kind jewelry and wearable art. These events are great for corporate anniversaries, holidays, special events, birthdays, etc. This is another way your company and employees can participate in philanthropy and community giving.

House Parties

This is fun, great and empowering. Invite a few friends over your house for drinks, and introduce them to the incredible art and stories of women artists of the EWI. Your friends will love shopping gorgeous jewelry and special art pieces created to make a difference. Any month or season is appropriate for a house party.

Employee Matching Gifts

Matching gifts programs empower employees to directly give to charities committed to furthering people’s lives. The matching programs boost morale and create a stronger relationship between the corporation and its employees. If you have an employee matching program, please consider EWI as one of the supported charities.

Employee Volunteer Program

Corporate social responsibility in the form of employee volunteer program creates a win-win situation for businesses, employees and the communities they support. EWI works with a large community of volunteers from all backgrounds, and constantly recruits new volunteers to add to its team.

The Giving Circle of Twelve

A community of 12 donors that underwrites a month's rent for our office and gallery programs. Each donor gives $1,000 and chooses a month of the year to sponsor the gallery.

The gift can also be made in the name of someone special. The donor’s name is promoted in the gallery, our website and monthly newsletter.

When Ethiopian artists, Mekbib and Meseret came to EWI in the spring of 2004, they had no idea how much their careers and lives would change in less than two years. Their English was limited, and their knowledge of the art business here was non-existent. Although their art was very popular in Ethiopia and their names recognized in major art galleries there, in the United States, they were unknown.

Assisted by EWI mentors and volunteer staff, Mekbib and Meseret pursued English classes and now speak fluently. They gained business skills and learned to market their work professionally.

They exhibited extensively throughout the DC Metropolitan area. But most importantly, Mekbib and Meseret found their unique way to have a voice in America . By creating and showing their art, they built a network of friends and supporters, and found a way to participate in society and give back to their communities.

"It's unbelievable how much help we received from EWI. EWI helps us build confidence, and with that, we know we can be successful." (Mekbib, EWI Artist)
